Published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, a study conducted over the last 24 years reveals that: “higher olive oil intake [is] associated with lower risk of CHD (coronary heart disease) and total CVD (cardiovascular disease) in 2 large prospective cohorts of US men and women.” Read the whole study here.
"Replacing 5 g/day of margarine, butter, mayonnaise, or dairy fat with the equivalent amount of olive oil was associated with 5% to 7% lower risk of total CVD and CHD."
We all appreciate it is a vital source of health and flavour - how important that science is now proving it. Nutritious extra virgin olive oil is a superfood rich in antioxidants - good for our brains and our hearts. And when premium and fresh it is bursting with flavour too.
